- : Actually given the 50 million users of 3.1 MS strategy of keeping pieces of
- : GDI and USer 16 bit for compatibility looks like a good one. It makes the
- : transition from 3.1 with lots of win16 apps much easier. (ie you don't have
- : to go out and buy all new apps but can phase them in). Once everyone gets
- : upgraded to win32 apps the trasnition for the meld of NT and 95 will be easy.
- : To bad I can't even run win32 (not win32s under 3.10) apps in OS/2 .

- Yes fine I can see the point of keeping in old 16 bit code for compatability,
- it makes sense.
- But don't you think it is then wrong to tout your product as fully 32 bit
- and basically lie to the public???
-
- Leaving in the 16 bit code also causes problems, as the old 16 apps grab the
- processor for themselves and don't release it until they are done (cooperative
- multitasking) if that 16 bit app should crash then the whole system will lock
- up.
-
- Wasn't this the problem with win3.x that Win95's "Multitasking" was supposed to
- sort out????
